Dinar (Gold, 22 mm, 6.94 g, 11 h), off flan, but probably al-Iskandariya, possibly AH 659 = AD 1260/1. ‘al-ḥaqq / lā ilāha illā Allāh / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh / arsalahū bi al-hudā / wa dīn’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. He sent him with guidance and the religion of truth’ in Arabic); marginal legend off flan. Rev. Citing the ruler as ‘Bibars al-Ṣāliḥī / al-Malik al-Ẓāhir / Rukn al-Dunyā wa al-Dīn’ (in Arabic); lion walking to left; marginal legend off flan. Album 880. Zeno-181838 (this coin). Rare. Struck slightly off center and with light scuffs on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
